What happens when a little creativity, some of Boston's most tenacious sales reps, and a charitable cause come together?Almost $9,000 gets raised in a little under two hours, that's what happens!The inaugural Inside Sales for Charity event was held last night at HubSpot HQ, and it was a tremendous success! HubSpot and The Bridge Group partnered up to rally the area's top inside sales people and get behind an outstanding organization, the ALS Foundation for Life.The idea to produce a charitable phone-a-thon as a way to leverage the "super powers" of inside sales reps was originally cooked up by HubSpot VP of Sales Mark Roberge and President of The Bridge Group, Trish Bertuzzi. Trish is a big supporter of the ALS Foundation for Life and wanted to help them make a difference.
The ALS Foundation for Life supports local individuals and families who are living with ALS (more commonly know as Lou Gehrig's disease). Their mission is quite simply "working to provide a better quality of life for the ALS community." They pursue this mission by providing much-needed products, services, and financial support to the community. She approached Brian Schneekloth, Director of Development at ALS, with the idea, and he jumped at it.In less than 3 weeks, the phone-a-thon was planned and promoted. Boston sales reps were excited to be able to take part in such a great cause while doing something they excel at. During the actual event, which lasted less than a couple of hours, participants were able to raise $8,865! The goal of last night's event was to support the 2011 Bowl for Life event on Saturday, November 12th. Sales reps leveraged their own personal and business networks to secure cash donations, auction/raffle items and sponsorships for that event. Bowl for Life is the ALS Foundation for Life's top fundraising event and is held annually.
